Forex market presents many risks, it is inherently dangerous, like any other market after all. This does not mean that, compared to other trading activities, it does not have some advantages. Here they are.
Trading Flexibility and Lower Costs
You can earn both on the rise and on the fall. This is one of the biggest advantages of Forex, one of the reasons why it is loved: you can invest regardless of the direction the market has taken. You can go long, in case of a rise, you can go short, in case of a fall.
No commissions are paid. This is another very important advantage. In almost all markets, investors are forced to pay commissions, at least for intermediation. In Forex, since intermediation is limited, no commissions are paid. Brokers only earn from spreads.
Leverage is on average higher. In traditional markets such as equities, leverage is very low, barely 1:20. In Forex it can even exceed 1:400. This means that it is possible to acquire very high profits even starting from minimal capital.
Easy Access for New Traders
The entry barrier is low. In recent years, Forex brokers have taken initiatives aimed at attracting ordinary people. One of these is the lowering of the initial minimum deposits. In some cases, 100 euros are enough to open an account. In extreme cases, you can start with just the welcome bonus. This combination of low costs and easy entry is central to why traders choose forex over other markets.
It has no hours. Forex is open 24 hours a day, 5 days a week. There are no hours, unlike the stock market which remains open only 8 hours a day.
It is possible to practice in complete safety. More unique than rare, Forex brokers provide "simulation" accounts, officially called "demo accounts". It is possible to practice trading in the real market but with fake credits. In this way it is possible to master the mechanisms of trading without putting your capital at risk.
Deep Liquidity and Multiple Time Horizons
Liquidity is high. Forex is one of the most liquid markets in the world. Just think that the euro-dollar pair moves something like 3,000 billion dollars a day, a figure higher (and by far) than the Italian public debt!
You can invest with different time horizons. The Forex market is versatile. It is possible to trade in the short term, medium term and long term. Scalping as well as multiday trading are generally allowed. A slower, rules-based alternative to both is explained in mean reversion trading strategy. To tell the truth, scalping depending on the brokers undergoes restrictions, but no one forbids intraday, which is still a form (not extreme) of fast trading.
